This is nice for those considering home ownership or investment. From new single family home subdivisions, apartment style condominiums, manufactured homes, etc.
Lethbridge has developed differently in each part of town and that has helped shape the distinct atmosphere of the different areas. While most cities are divided into 4 quadrants, Lethbridge is really only divided into 3 distinct areas known as the West, North, and South sides of the city.
The West side is home to the University of Lethbridge, and as such attracts lots of young families, students, and working professionals. The area is the newest part of town and has the most new subdivisions. There are lots of green areas and walking trails, however due to its more recent construction there is a lack of mature trees and commercial development.
North Lethbridge is where you find the industrial park. This is the heart of our manufacturing sector and the factory and industrial jobs are all located here. As such the North side attracts home purchasers who work in these jobs. The homes in North Lethbridge commonly have detached garages or workshops, more often than homes in the rest of the city. The home designs are also more practical in their design and modest in price. It can be argued that North Lethbridge is home to nice working class neighborhoods and affordable houses.
On the South side of Lethbridge you will find the old original heritage homes that founded the City. The downtown area has mature old tree lined streets that are lined with turn of the century character homes. Also on the South part of the city is the majority of the commercial shopping development. This makes living on the South side of the City very convenient and is one of the reasons that the majority of the Senior’s housing developments are also located in this part of town. More recently there has been some new construction along the suburb edge of the city, but due to the large demand for this part of town the homes are all higher end and more expensive construction. This makes them less attractive to young families and instead more popular with retirees or white collar professionals who can afford the higher price tag associated with new construction in high demand subdivisions.
