Costa Rica has the president as the chief of state and basically its political system is based on the democratic republic. The president is also the head of the government. Besides, the political system of the country has two vice presidents and a fifteen member cabinet. The president and vice presidents along with the fifty-seven Legislative Assembly delegates are elected for the term of four years by popular vote.

Ed Mercer recently joined the Costa Rican’s president’s force to take the alliance new project, which is devoted to strengthen compassionate humanity, to new levels. Ed Mercer has proved himself to be a good example of the fact that money is not the only origin of happiness but what one does for the betterment of our society matters in the quest for eternal happiness, peace and tranquility. Despite humble street beginnings, Ed Mercer has proved himself to be a self-made man. He has proved himself to be a self-taught entrepreneur, and has become the best salesman in the world (earning $ 100,000 a month in his earlier years).

In addition, Ed is also the best seller of swimming pools and has gained the position of the best contractor by his amazing business expertise. He entered into the land development business in Costa Rica amassing thousands of acres of breathtaking land. He formed his real estate company that undertakes projects that are strictly environment friendly. By that, he completed his dream of creating a one-stop-shop organization that simplified the building and buying process of those who wished to purchase real estate investment properties in Costa Rica conveniently. Along with, a portion of every sale that is done by Ed Mercer’s company goes towards meeting the reforestation and the infrastructure challenge in the country generously, earning him the popular name, Mr. Costa Rica.

The president and his cabinet exercise executive power in Costa Rica. Legislative power in the country is vested in the legislative assembly. The judiciary of Costa Rica is independent of the executive and the legislature. Likewise, Costa Rica is a republic that has a strong system of constitutional checks and balances.

The current leading political parties are Partido Liberacion Nacional, Partido Accion Ciudadana, Partido Movimirnto Libertario, and the Partido Unida Social Cristiana. There are some minor political parties in Costa Rica that has congressional representation which includes Partido Restauracion Nacional, Partido Frente Ampli, Partido Accesibilidad Sin Exclusion that fights for disabled people and Partido Union Nacional. In April year 2007, the former PLN Presidential candidate of Costa Rica and CAFTA opponent Jose Miguel Corrales won a legal battle at the supreme Electoral Tribunal, which authorized him to gather over thousand signatures in order to Send CAFTA to a referendum and let the people decide the fate of the controversial agreement. On January 28, 2008, when the deadline to approve or reject CAFTA comes into view, Arias decided to call for the referendum himself. Meanwhile, Vice President Kevin Casa quit from his position due to a compromising memorandum.

Like Ed Mercer, it is the responsibility of every Costa Rican and especially all the members of all the political parties to think about the country’s welfare much before they think of their own interests.
