If you’re considering selling your home, hopefully it’s been prepped and it’s ready to hit the market. Any broker will stress how important the kitchen is when the home is presented to potential buyers. Instead of dumping a ton of money into a complete kitchen renovation, let me share some tips on a few simple ways to make your kitchen look great without spending an arm and a leg.

Cabinets can be fixed up by re-facing them instead of doing a complete renovation. If they’re done well, they’ll look as good as new. There are so many options to choose from when re-facing, so select something that will have a modern feel. This will make your old and scratched up cabinets look fresh.

Many kitchens in the past used laminate countertops. This style is completely out of date, especially if they’re older. Laminate counters that have been around for a while are probably scratched up and washed out.

If this is the case, then it’s extremely important you make a change. Many people think that replacing counters will cost sky high prices, but there are affordable ways of doing it. In fact, new counters make up for about 15% of an entire kitchen renovation. New counter tops can completely change the look.

There’s another option if you choose not to reface your cabinets. Update your hardware! Replacing the hardware can get expensive, but there are many affordable options. Stores like home depot have affordable options.

Lighting can really change the feel to a room. The brighter the room, it typically feels larger. One great lighting option that’s now found in many kitchens is lighting under the cabinets. It will add more light and give it a great modern and luxurious feel.

Unless you’re really handy and able to do some slight carpentry work, you’ll need to hire an expert. An electrician can easily handle this job. While they’re at it, consider adding some pendant lighting over a table or bar if you have one.

Everyone loves new appliances, such as a refrigerator or dishwasher. New floors also create a huge impact. Both of these options are pricey, so buff the floors if you can’t replace them. These simple steps will make your kitchen look as good as new!
