Steel frame homes are gaining in popularity and for good reason. Building them is easy and extremely efficient. There is little to no waste. They are manufactured from recycled steel making them very green. Because they are made of steel which is many times more stronger then wood plus they are fire resistant because steel does not burn. And finally, a steel frame homes costs about the same to build as a wood framed house.

Since steel is far superior it begs the question as to why more homes are not being built this way?

Who knows why this method of construction is not more common but I do have a few ideas or theories as to why this is.

Building single family homes out of steel is still a relatively new idea. It takes time to get people interested, educated or even aware that a product like this exists. But, once people see it and the benefits that it brings with it they want to build one.

Contractors are not out promoting this product because all they have ever known is wood. Wood works, why change a good thing, why try and fix what’s not broken. Once a contractor saw the benefits of steel like how easy it is to work with and how efficient it makes their crew they would never want to go back to wood.

Financing has also been an issue. There have been some major changes that makes getting financing much simpler than it once was. Before these changes came about you would have needed to pay cash to build a home like this. If cash was the only way to build a home like this than obviously very few people could afford to build a steel framed home.

Those folks who love conspiracy theories would say that is because of big timber lobbyists. With out fires, which steel helps prevent, it is hard to sell fire insurance. At least that’s what some of the conspiracy theorists believe.

Steel frame homes are here to stay, even is those conspiracy theorists are right in their beliefs.. The number of steel frame homes is growing significantly every year. The reality of the situation is that once the government see the benefits of steel it will be required that all new construction on single family homes will be with steel framing. The energy saving efficiency as well as the massive impacts on our environment are just to huge to be ignored any longer.

Here is why:

Steel built homes on average save 40%-50% on utility costs. Depending on the size of the home it recycles 3-5 cars out of the junk yard. A steel frame home keeps between 3 to 10 truck loads of logs being harvested. Logging to produce lumber for housing produces 7x the green house gasses compared to steel.

The benefits and features of a steel framed house could go on and on and on.. But with just these four simple facts you quickly understand that massive benefits a steel home provides. If you or someone you know is thinking about building a new home I highly urge you to consider building a steel frame home.

Now you understand why steel framed homes framing is becoming so popular. Are you ready to take the next step to see what it takes to take the next step to get your own Oregon Steel Framing Kits. It is much easier than you think. Visit out website at Oregon Green Construction Homes.
